Sharon Clare is a fully qualified Clinical Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist, registered with the CNHC and holding the Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD), the gold-standard qualification accredited by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).
Her approach is gentle yet highly effective — combining modern neuroscience, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Clinical Hypnosis to help people move from survival mode to calm, confidence, and control.
Sharon works with a wide range of issues including anxiety, sleep problems, and stress-related symptoms, and she has developed a particular expertise in supporting people preparing for or undergoing medical procedures such as radiotherapy, MRI or CT scans, surgery, and injections.
Sharon’s bespoke Radiotherapy Support Programme, now available at Belfast Chiropractic & Complementary Therapy Clinic, offers practical mind-body tools to help patients stay calm and focused throughout treatment. This often includes teaching self-hypnosis, breathing, and visualisation techniques — empowering clients to manage anxiety naturally and feel more in control of their experience.
She believes that when people understand how their mind works, they can begin to change how their body responds — reducing stress hormones, balancing the nervous system, and strengthening overall wellbeing.
Personal Approach
Sharon’s work is deeply aligned with her own life path and purpose — to help others reconnect with calm, safety, and strength within themselves. She believes each person carries an inner wisdom that, once accessed, allows healing and transformation to unfold naturally.
Clients often describe her as steady, reassuring, and insightful — someone who helps them make sense of what’s happening in the mind and body and translate that insight into practical, positive change.
With more than 35 years’ experience in health and social care, Sharon brings deep compassion and clinical understanding to her hypnotherapy work.
Originally training as a Registered Nurse for People with Learning Disabilities, she later became an Executive Director within a not-for-profit organisation, leading teams to deliver high-quality care and mental health support.
Her transition into hypnotherapy was a natural next step — an alignment of science, empathy, and intuition. After qualifying as a Clinical Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist, she expanded her skills through advanced training in The Rewind Technique for trauma, fears, and phobias.
Sharon is also an Executive Contributor for Brainz Magazine, where she writes about anxiety, persistent pain, and the mind-body connection. Her widely-read articles explore how our thoughts and physiology interact, and how hypnotherapy can help retrain the brain to support long-term emotional and physical wellbeing.
Like many therapists, Sharon’s journey into hypnotherapy began through her own experience of burnout after years of supporting others in healthcare and leadership roles. Mindfulness and hypnosis became her turning point — powerful tools that helped her rebuild resilience and rediscover balance.
She now lives by the coast just outside Belfast, finding peace and perspective through sea swimming and walking - exploring Ireland’s coastline.
Sharon also volunteers at the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, offering hypnotherapy support to patients experiencing radiotherapy-related anxiety — work she finds deeply meaningful.
