Registered Nutritionist and Advanced Mindcoach
Sustainable dietary and behaviour change. Emotional well-being and Health. Specialist in treatment of Anxiety & IBS.
Aisling is a registered Associate Nutritionist with the UKVRN, and is registered with the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA).
During her studies in Human Nutrition Aisling began to develop a keen interest in health psychology and how emotions and stress can create, affect and maintain very real physical conditions. Upon graduating in 2011 with First Class Honours, Aisling worked in weight loss research for the University of Ulster (NICHE) and in health promotion for a government agency. She became interested in finding more effective ways of inspiring sustainable lifestyle change. Aisling’s ethos is that by appreciation and understanding of the whole person and their circumstances, clients can be empowered to take control and make lasting change in their life.
Aisling has developed extremely effective ways to combine her health and nutrition expertise with her knowledge of how to inspire change within the mind. These combined techniques are what she calls Mindcoaching. Aisling can work with both children from the age of 6/7, teenagers and adults to teach them how best to help themselves.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Aisling has an evidence-based approach to all her work. Due to the large amounts of research now supporting hypnotherapy the NHS (NICE) guidelines for IBS treatment now recommend ‘Gut directed hypnotherapy’. Her understanding of the links between the brain and the digestive system has led her to develop a highly successful treatment for IBS that sees the majority of her patients experience a marked improvement within 3-4 sessions.
Nutrition counseling and Mindcoaching
Aisling Cowan specializes in helping people who have issues around food, the whole spectrum of overeating, undereating, food phobias, picky eaters, binge eating can all be targeted with her very special coaching techniques. She is more interested in the area of making change and how to stick to it, as often people know all the ‘correct’ dietary advice and what they ‘should’ be doing, she helps the person actually make the change and overcome the barriers that have been holding them back.
Aisling works with long term weight loss clients to encourage and coach them with breaking emotional connections to food and empowering them to take control of their health with realistic dietary advice.
Aisling offers an extremely personal service and tailors the therapy to suit the individual. Sometimes her clients require Nutritional Therapy with Claire Clerkin and advice, or motivational counseling, whereas others will require Mindcoaching and a more in-depth approach.
